It’s so easy to for those in the public eye – celebrities, teachers, politicians – to negate the responsibility that they have, to the little to the children that are watching them. They readily deny that they are role models, even to their own children. Unfortunately, the media gives us a close look into their lives while the next generation holds them in high regard.
Thank God there are some that continue to do the right thing and make their mommas proud day after day. This page is reserved for all of the Ladies that make a difference in today’s society. For those that realize their responsibility to make this world a great place to live – I do hearby crown thee Princess.
For the 2nd year in a row, Miss USA falls at the Miss Universe pagent. Crystal Stewart fell during the 2008 evening gown competition of the pagent. What makes Crystal so special? She graciously recovered with a smile on her face and applauded herself. How many young women would have considered that point the end of their career? Not Ms Stewart! I do hearby crown her a graceful Princess.
Ok I admit it guys can’t really be Princesses but Randy Pausch is so special that he deserves recognition. Randy is a father, husband, and Professor of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He delivered what what was supposed to be his last lecture -for his kids, after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The overall message is so powerful, that it has spread throughout the world and is now being published into a book. Watch the YouTube video and you’ll see why. I can’t officially crown him, but, by being so brave, Randy has crowned himself!
Super Model, Actress, Producer, and talk show hostess – Tyra Banks started her organization- TZONE to form a sisterhood movement among women and girls to support community based non-profit organizations that cater to the needs of disadvantaged and low income girls. Tyra’s orgranization hopes to raise the awareness of the needs, ambitions, and accomplishments of girls. I do hearby crown Tyra “Princess” for recognizing her responsibility to society, and more importantly- for being proud of the curves she developed in her life after modeling. Whew! the rest of us are stop sucking it in when we stand next to you : )
Actress Julieanne Moore absolutely deserves to be crowned “Princess” for dishing the truth about being worthy enough to work in Hollywood. In a recent interview with Eve Magazine, Julieanne states “I still battle with my deeply boring diet of, essentially, yogurt and breakfast cereal and granola bars. I hate having to do it to be the ‘right’ size. I’m hungry all the time. I think I’m a slender person, but the industry apparently doesn’t. All actresses are hungry all the time, I think.”
Her colleagues with either hate her for giving up the juice or love her for being so brave. I personally hate it when they pretend they’re naturally thin or they haven’t had life changing surgery to look a certain way. It causes the average woman or teenager to compare themselves to their images – thinking, “why wasn’t I born that way” without realizing the effort that really goes into being the perfect toothpick (size)! Julianne even ‘fesses that the industry puts pressure on her to be thinner. Eat already, I say!
Anne Sweeney is the Co-Chairman of Disney Media Networks. She takes the throne as number #15 on Fortune Magazine’s 50 most powerful women of 2007. Under her leadership, High School Musical, Grey’s Anatomy, and Dancing with the Stars were added to the company’s long rooster of successful hits. WOW! only a true “Princess” could have such insite to give the green light for those hot shows. I do hearby crown Anne Sweeney “Princesss” for being smart, successful.
Susan Johnston & Kimberly Webb certainly get my vote for Princesses of the week. Best friends and former flight attendants have co-authored the book: Princess Bubble, in which a Princess learns that “Happily ever after comes from becoming the best person that God wants YOU to be with or without Prince Charming”. The book dispels the traditional fairy tale of finding Prince charming, THEN living “happily every after”. The main character Princess Bubble explores the world and enjoys life as a single Princess. The bubble duo is hoping to raise the self esteem levels of girls everywhere by speaking a message of hope- before finding Mr. Right. Neither are anti – Prince Charming, but only want to encourage others that true happiness occurs within.
